Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the risks and benefits of the various classes of controlled substances.
  2. Explain the mechanisms of addiction of the various classes of controlled substances.
  3. Identify diversion and drug-seeking tactics and behaviors.
  4. Explain methods to deal with addicted and/or drug-seeking patients.
  5. Discuss risky practices for prescribing controlled substances and adopt strategies to reduce those risks.

Learning Assessment: There will be a post test for this activity with a minimum performance requirement of #8 out of #10 correct answers.
