Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants should be able to
1)    Describe and assess the effectiveness of recent regulations aimed at reducing opioid
       mortality.
2)    Characterize the state of clinical practice guidelines on the subject of prescribing
       long-term opioids.
3)    Explain principles of conservative prescribing as they apply to pain medications.
4)    Define your own policies on prescribing controlled substances: implement the most
       appropriate tools and guidelines for managing patients receiving opioids in your
       practice.

Learning Assessment: There will be a post test for this activity with a minimum performance requirement of 8 out of 10 correct answers.

Estimated time to complete activity: 2 hours

Residents will earn a certificate of completion. Physicians will earn CME credit.
